Access National Agency Check with Inquiries

The Access National Agency Check with Inquiries (ANACI) is used for the initial investigation for federal employees at the Confidential, Secret, and L access levels.

Executive Order 10450 mandates the National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI) as the minimum investigative standard for all employees in the Federal service. The NACI is a background investigation primarily for federal employees who will not have access to classified information.

This investigation is appropriate for positions designated as public trust positions that require responsible and trustworthy employees, but with no national security impact.
